The HC Knight Mission:

The sole purpose of this organization is to assist students, seeking higher education, with financial resources to further their education; provide information and services that may provide health education through counseling and instruction; provide religious resources that may assist with the reinforcement of social unity and stability; assist those in the underserved communities to receive the basic physiological needs as stated in the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (food, drink, shelter, clothing, warmth, and health).

Honoring the Legacy of Henry and Carrie Knight

As you can imagine, losing two leaders within 15 months was extremely difficult.  The future of the Greater True Light Tabernacle Church was uncertain, so in 2011, the Officers and Board of the Greater True Light Tabernacle Church unanimously voted to rename the corporation to honor the late leaders by renaming the corporation HC Knight Association, Inc. and listing the church as a dba. We felt strongly that the mission of our previous leaders must continue even if the church ceased to exist. The sites of the newly named corporation gave us life to renew our commitment to the people in our underserved community.

We were committed to supporting the goals and mission of GTLT Church by collaborating to complete the following goals:

  1. Partnered with Global Human Services, which secured bi-monthly fresh food and produce deliveries. Hundreds of food bags were prepared and distributed “free of charge” to individuals and families within the Vermont Community.
  2. Partnered with Barbara Walden, who graciously donated makeup from her makeup line and held etiquette seminars to teach women how to apply makeup.
  3. Partnered with the 2:15 Coalition to start the GTLT recycling program. The proceeds were used to provide school materials for all ages.
  4. Partnered with Turkey-Bowl-To-The-House, who provided hundreds of full Thanksgiving dinners (for recipients to prepare/cook) in grocery bags for those in need.
  5. Partnered with the Los Angeles County Department of Children Services to identify recipients of Thanksgiving groceries.
  6. Partnered with 1736 Family Crisis Center to deliver boxes of basic supplies for needy families. During the Pandemic, we supplied this organization with gift cards to distribute to more than 40 families.
  7. Partnered with the South Los Angeles Health Program with gift cards to distribute to multiple families in need.
  8. Chef Leroy Milton, Catholic Charities, Vons, and Ralphs provided fresh vegetables and groceries for needy families.
  9. Provided food baskets and bags to St John’s Well Child Families in South Los Angeles
  10. Partnered with COGIC Charities #Im Helping in response to Hurricane Harvey victims.
